Has it been this long?

WOW, I didn't realize it had been two plus months since my last post. I guess that means I am still a slacker. :-)

46 pounds! I now weigh less than I did when I graduated college. I can't believe that is really possible. Nothing fits, and for the first time in a long time, that seems to be a good thing. I have held off on buying many new clothes, since I can't tell if I'll end up much smaller than I am now or not. I can see myself as smaller in the mirror, though I still have some flab in my eyes. I think I am now going to shift the focus I am putting on it to drop percentage of body fat. When I started this diet, I was at 34% body fat. I am now at 22%. I'd like to get to 19% or lower to really be happy. At that point, I think I could argue with my doctor and win.

Today was the first day of quitting smoking for the second time. Damn! I hate having to admit that, but I did smoke pretty regularly for 5 months this year, and I just can't deal with it any more. I caught a cold, and as a smoker that means crap in my head and lungs for weeks longer than it should be. So, I put them down again. I'll see how long it lasts. I made a promise to myself that if I went on an overseas trip for work again it would be as a non-smoker, and I intend to make that goal for 2006. I'll be spending most of the month of January and February in Australia yet again, so if nothing else, the 16 hour flight will convince me to be smoke free by then. :-)

Another month, another miss. We have now started buying ovulation predictor kits to try to help us narrow the window. I had really hoped it wouldn't come to that, but I apparently am not that lucky. It hasn't been a good thing for Colleen, and I don't know how to make it better for her.

Christmas will be in NC again this year. Hard to travel when your wife works in retail. She had to work the day before Thanksgiving and the day after. She'll also have to work Christmas Eve and the day after. That makes family time hard. Her parents have agreed to come down this year, which will be nice. I'll have to post my update as to how my first foray into cooking a real turkey goes. I have never actually cooked a bird with the bones, and stuffed the beast with stuffing, so that'll be an interesting bit of cooking. I will get to work out my wonderful new pumpkin pie recipe, and my new healthy stuffing alternative, so I have some wonderful new recipes to put into my Holiday listing. I don't know if my in-laws are ready for my cooking, or for a South Beach friendly Christmas, but they better be! I only wish they had chosen to stay with us instead of a hotel. My mom says it is a difference in Yankees versus Southerners. I have no idea, personally. Of course, she's never been to the house, so she has no room to talk. :)

OK, I am signing off for now. I will try harder to get this thing updated more frequently. I'll still fail, but hey at least I keep saying it. :-)

Cheers.
